Travel the world, taste different cuisines

In present times, the travel industry has grown a lot since the 1950s. It is estimated that international tourism was only 25 million compared to today which has increased to 1.4 billion! It is a 56 fold increase till 2018.  The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) says that it will only increase in the future. With airline costs going cheap, food bloggers and chefs are going places to promote travel and eating to great efforts. From an Indian Restaurantin Coromondel valley to an Athenian restaurant in the UK, everyone is keen on trying new things.

The world and food culture

Food has become a luxury today for many. It can be easily found anywhere and quickly. Thanks to technological advancements, we can order food at home, or place an order for someone else sitting miles away from us. There are Chinese restaurants in Delhi, Indianfood delivery in Blackwood, Spanish restaurants in New York and many more. The cross-culture amalgamation via food is creating an increase in the food industry too. People know more about different countries, through food which is an essential way to know about the culture. But traveling to the home country and having their food brings a different perspective.

Travel and food tips-
  • Be open to different kinds of food. Vegetarian, Mexican, vegan, gluten-free trends, etc. You never know what you will fall in love with for life.
  • Know a bit before trying new cuisine. For example, Indian food comes under the spicy category. If you can’t handle spice, it’s best to avoid or plan a light meal.
  • Carry home food, in case you end up not liking anything.

Travelling versus eating international cuisine from home

Many argue that eating international food from home doesn’t do justice. For example, eating at the best Indian food in Adelaide will not be the same as eating Indian food in India itself. But others argue that having international cuisine from home opens new doors for chefs, customers, raises awareness of the culture, comforts the tourists, etc. Hence, the only way to know about it is to ask people what they really want.

Having international cuisine in one country seems favorable. Businesses work through such expansion. No one wants to go to China just to buy Chinese electronics or go to Italy just to eat Italian. There has to be a mix of everything. It is a world of diversification and food should not fall behind in that category.
